Snakes

Last night’s dreams were some of the longest ever, including three long epics. The most recent was in this nature reserve. Rebecca and I escaped this school function by rollerblading down a hill, then we just kept going. At one point, I wanted to stop and tighten my laces but I passed a rattlesnake at the side of the road, then two more. We got to a place without any snakes and I stopped. We continued on into a more foresty place. I jumped in a river that was supposed to be filled with piranhas. I was scared but there were none. After a while we set out again and there were snakes in the path ahead to avoid. The snakes all had their heads up. We had a guide who did well and so did Rebecca, but I freaked out and slid down the slope past hundreds more snakes before leaping into a tree. A bunch of people came to my rescue and plowed the snakes away. There was a headmaster and many people at this place. They were all so friendly and would hold my hand and talk to me and smile. I opened up to it slowly but much later in the dream I was embracing this openness entirely. The head guy, who I didn’t like at first, asked me to work for him. I didn’t answer at first, but eventually decided I would listen to his offer. I liked these people.

There were two other long epics: one in San Francisco, and one rebuilding some ancient civilization built of rock and sand. Some of it was underground with holes to the surface. I’ve dreamed of it before.

Lacking Piranhas: This is a dream infested with multiplying snakes. I jump into a river and was expecting piranhas, feeling scared about it, but there weren’t any. Expectations don’t always come to pass.

Rollerblading: I rationalized the intermediate travel speed as rollerblading.
