Ghosts and Astral Matter★★★
February 28, 1996

This dream was inspired by my recent reanalysis regarding “if I could see spirits, would I want to?” My answer was yes. Then. . . . I dreamed I was at a cross between Harkness and Grandma Adams’ house. I was aware that they used to have servants. Two servants remained — both Jewish. The rest were dead and their spirits haunted the house. My sister and mother accompanied me (I’ve been wondering recently how much certain people actually represent themselves versus something else). Roxann was the disciplinarian, not believing in ghosts, and trying to force me to remain there against my will. Jess was a friend. Grandma was senile, whacked out.

The stereo stretched as I pulled

I was photographing things (this helped me to remember the dream). I got pictures of a ghost butler, encountered many things moving on their own, and was generally quite scared. During a scene of emotional conflict, the next room began glowing an eerie green, and a large ghostly stack of stereo components appeared. I walked up to it and pulled at the top. Its features melted away as it stretched out, but when I let go it snapped back to its original form. It was some kind of elastic spirit substance. I brought some of the substance outside and changed it to something else with my mind. Then I threw it up into the air and willed it to change to rain and it did. Then I changed it to small dogs and a donkey.
