The Stinging Ocean★

My dreams last night were typical of those recently. I dreamed a horrible ocean dream. While in dark tidal pools, semitransparent grey arthropods would scurry around our legs. Then they became scorpions. We played some game about trying not to step on them. But they grabbed our feet and one stung to kill. Then we mixed in giant centipedes, seaweed, bugs, spiders, and lots more sea life including this dead-looking finless spotted fish which you had to try to avoid. There were also jellyfish and toothfish and jawfish. Jeff turned into a big “N’gtoash Nisk” with a spiny head. I could breathe underwater. I was never injured but the deep-sea ocean life fear of the unknown was real.
Ocean Fear: Many ocean dreams are about fear of the gross weird creatures and the unknowns beneath the surface. This reminds me of the “hungry ocean” region that Monroe described. It’s surprising that I could be light-hearted enough to make up a game there.
Scurrying Fear Orbs: My fear of unknown ocean creatures caused the same energetic reaction, and I rationalized it as arthropods scurrying around my legs.
