My Other Kids★★
January 16, 2025

I was visiting Cathy. I hadn’t visited in a long time. It had been a journey to get there. We were in some small town, in a building with long hallways. I remember awkwardly talking to several people that recognized me, but whom I had trouble recognizing myself. Cathy was most excited about me seeing my other kids again. Not long after, a woman walked past me and I recognized her. The story came back to me. She had wanted kids and so I slept with her, under the agreement that the kids would be hers to raise. We’d done it twice over the years and she had two kids. One was maybe 5 and one was maybe 10. I’d visited once or twice before but I barely knew them.

The building had an event space with seating. It was showing a movie . . . or maybe a band was playing? Either way, we all went to see it. I changed seats from time to time. At one point, late in the dream, I was sitting by Cathy and it finally occurred to me to ask her how life was. At another point, I was sitting alone, and found Dan sitting stiffly next to me. He never looked at me, but said something about how he was here for the football game or something. This clearly wasn’t it.

At the end of the show, some people who were cleaning up food stations walked by with a bit of food. I hadn’t realized there was food, and one woman caught me looking and asked if I wanted some. I said yes, and she heated up this slice of pizza for me. I took it but never ended up eating it.

Cathy and her friends had decided to relocate to someone’s house further up the mountains. There was some long scene outside with bikes, and then I ended up in a car with some of them on the way up to the mountains. As we arrived, I realized morning was coming. I asked the way back to Atlanta, and realized it was back the way we’d come, and that I shouldn’t have made this last trip. I wondered how I’d get back.

In the Seats: When I go to an astral theater, pat of the time is spent watching the rote of the movie showing, and the other is socializing with other people in the seats around me. I wander about the theater sometimes, get into the movie for a while, then focus back out again.

It’s rather similar to hanging out with people in a living room in the near realm, though in those cases we go off into individual dreams instead of having one shared rote in front of us that we can enter into and exit at will.
