Half a Conversation★★★★
November 26, 2024 @ 5:30 AM
Blaine House

I was in bed with the lights on in my childhood room in Blaine House. It was dark outside, and Rebecca was there with me. She was having a conversation with someone, talking about me in glowing terms, about how I made unique clothing sometimes, how sometimes it didn’t work out but how it was really interesting at other times. (This does not reflect anything in waking life.) I only heard her half of the conversation, with pauses between where someone else was talking. Her eyes were closed, and I considered her “sleeping”, even though she was moving around the bedroom. She was sitting on the floor at the foot of the bed, then crawled into bed, still talking and pausing, and at one point put her head up to the cat, who began licking her mouth. In the meantime, I was just thinking to myself, about her conversation and about other things. It was nice to overhear her talking about me to someone else with admiration. I thought that I was doing pretty well, felt pretty strong, and was ready for a challenge.

So I left the room into the hallway, with the thought “there will be an intruder in the house.” And I saw him! I let out a long shout, and I did it in such a way as to project it out physically, as it was no ordinary shout. It sounded really weird from the dream side, and I think I must have succeeded in making a sound on the waking side because my attention jumped to my current physical bedroom, and Rebecca turning away from me and rolling over.

After writing this dream down and going back to bed, I experimented with shifting my shoulders back and forth while not affecting my body, and then the little jolt when I pushed it over the edge to effect my body, causing my physical shoulders to move. At one point, while falling deeper asleep, my attention caught on some noise or movement on the waking side. I felt like I was this hairy horned monster, descending down this spiral staircase back to check up on the physical body. I felt like we have this “watcher” focus where the dream self keeps an eye on the physical world.

Near Realm Dreaming: This is significant. We’re both physically in bed at Hibernia House. We’re both also in bed in the near realm. I’m lightly dreaming that it’s my bedroom in Blaine House. But I’m still aware of Rebecca, who appears in that context. She’s fully engaged in her own dream where she’s talking to someone about me, but her astral body is acting it out in the near realm. She’s essentially astrally sleep-walking.

Her astral body behavior exactly reflects the behavior of teens hanging out in their room while talking on the phone.

Creating a Dream: Here I am hanging out in my bedroom in the near realm. I’m thinking, watching Rebecca dream, and then decide to create my own drama with a frightening dream of my own. I enter the dream by leaving the room to go into the hallway.

The challenge that I set for myself was no joke — a terrifying situation. It’s like I’m trying to get myself to learn ways of dealing with situations without falling victim to fear.

Overcoming fear is one of the central themes of physical life.

Shouting Into the Physical: I intentionally shouted in such a way that I would physically make a sound, and it worked.

Checking In: There’s a “dream staging area” which is essentially a shaft down to the near realm where the body is sleeping. Returning to the physical, I’m sometimes aware of going down this shaft to get back to my room.
