Dan’s New Daughter★★
May 1, 2024 @ 6:30 AM
The Woods Neighborhood

I was returning through the Woods Neighborhood towards the highway — the opposite direction as usual. I was surprised to see new development there — buildings a few stories high. Businesses of small import, not open to the public. There was a new small lake there. I thought maybe some of this had replaced the house we’d once lived in. I never did pass the house in this dream. The roads are somewhat maze-like, and it’s hard to find it.

At any rate, I passed through the Woods Neighborhood area to the stores on the north side. I went to a small standalone grocery store I often go to. The front doors opened into a large hallway with the grocery store opposite. The checkout was directly ahead. I looked at the checkout line. Three people’s eyes vividly caught mine. First, someone who I thought might be Dan, but didn’t look quite right. Then someone who looked like a relative but who I couldn’t place, and then my aunt Jeanne. Not wanting to talk to any of them, I headed to the left to the grocery store entrance. Once inside (I’ve been here so many times, almost on a routine basis), I was quickly approached by the person who looked like a possible relative. He seemed like a guy at first, though I wasn’t entirely certain of the gender. He had short brown hair, younger, a bit greasy. I forget what was said, but we walked over to Dan in the checkout lines. Dan told me that a while ago he had frozen some of his sperm. I suddenly put it together. I didn’t want to hear any more. So this was a half-sibling. Dan took off his watch and turned it inside out to show me that the panels on the bands each had a word on it. The watch was enlarged as he showed me. It was commemorating this new child. I didn’t pay much attention. This was clearly a ploy (it often is with him) to make me jealous of his new, preferred child. In the meantime, the son had turned into a daughter. She had long black hair now. I thought for a moment how Dan must hate her for being trans (since that’s the popular new conservative bigotry). But there was something interesting about her. She and I went off and talked a bit. She seemed interesting. She said she was 17, and told me her name, but I don’t recall it.

An Astral Home: This is the first time I’ve clearly remembered this dream location that has been a standard location for me for ages. It’s one of several recurring suburban astral homes that I go regularly to and consider mine.

An interesting thing is that these recurring astral locations are very stable. They are predictably themselves. Though it feels somewhat like Blaine House and Midway Woods in some ways, it’s also entirely unique. If this were a rote, it’s far more likely I’d paint over these places with well-known physical locations and people. For example, in a rote I’d be far more likely to project a known store onto the grocery store and a known person onto Dan’s daughter in order to understand it. But instead I have this grocery store that’s unknown to me in the physical but always the same in the astral, and this unknown person who strikes up a conversation with me, seemingly uninterested in Dan’s ploy. In essence, these locations are more real and authentic, not dressed up in my past impressions.
