Driving Hallucinations★★
1992 @ early AM

I had gone to Spirit Mountain to ski for New Years eve. I skied until midnight, and then headed home. It was a three-hour drive back. It was between 3-4 AM when I neared the three-hour mark, and my dreams were beginning to impinge on my experience. The alternating light and dark patches on the road from the street lights seemed now to be the alteration of steeper and flatter parts of the slopes ahead of me. The signs I passed on the side of the road were skiers in my periphery. It wasn’t subtle — I was actually seeing this. Luckily I made it home alright.

Same Impressions, New Meanings: After spending hours on the slopes, my dreams were returning to that same context, bending my driving experience back into a skiing experience. The context changed, and with it the interpretation of my physical sense impressions.
