Mina the Bat★★★
January 8, 2024

It was dark. I went outside into the misty yard, which was surrounded by tall trees with a few dim lights coming from above. I find someone out there who’d caught this huge bat-like creature. Its head was as big as ours, but bony, extended in a way reminiscent of a cow. I wondered at how he’d caught it, and saw a picture of him with his arms extended, and it just flew to him. I came right up to it and watched it closely.

Then I was walking back to the house, holding it. I was holding it at an angle so that its head was higher than mine, focused on its face, and we were communicating — perhaps this was actually a telepathic window. I don’t remember picking it up, and the telepathic windows are usually higher up like this. How much of our dream recollection is “I must have” because of these unusual non-physical effects?

I start with “Hi” and it responds “Hi”. Then I say “Hello” and it says “Hello” back. Then I indicate myself and say “Ben” and it says “Mina” (something like that) and I think it got my name wrong and repeat “Ben”. After a minute I realize maybe that’s her name.

I remember walking around outside, continuing the conversation, and it says something like “It’s just up ahead” and I think, “Oh, so you can speak perfect English now?” I’m disappointed, as if this is a badly-written movie. But of course there’s no language barrier in telepathy.

Later on, back inside the house, it’s daylight, and Dan is there. I’m looking at his old pictures. They’re pictures of our family, Jessie and I as kids. I’m amazed that I’ve never seen them before. I remember looking at the photos as an index at times, as if some were photos of lots of thumbnails. I was looking through these, and got to a few photos of Mina or another bat-creature from long ago.

The next thing I remember is that I was outside, and there were these incredibly deep openings in the ground, striated with light yellow and light purple layers, of a psychedelic fractal design. The material of the earth seemed like a flexible dough-like substance. It looked almost biological. The openings were as wide as several houses. There was one crevasse on each side of the house. I was looking down as if floating in the air. I passed over the roof of the house as I moved from one crevasse to the other. I wonder if this could have been Satori playing out over the scene. I wanted to find Mina to ask her about these or to help me explore them.

Explaining Telepathic Windows: My original thought upon remembering this scene is that “I must have taken it from the man and was holding it up” even though I didn’t have a specific memory of that. That was simply an explanation rationalization. What makes more sense is that there wasn’t actually a transition there and I just began to communicate telepathically with it, which is of course the natural method of communication in dreams.

All memories of actually speaking words are added to the scene by the waking self.

Communication 101: First we have an example of direct telepathic communication. My question is immediately answered with the man’s visual memory. I almost wrote “I asked him” and “he said” but I don’t actually recall speaking. I recall wondering, then seeing the answer. I see him holding out his arms and the bat landing, but from my present position. His experience, translated into my perspective. Interesting.

Once I start communicating with the bat, I’m doing so in a very word-oriented fashion. I’m amazed that it can mimic me! But telepathy is universal. It’s communication at a higher level, far more natural than spoken language, which is our rough attempt to physically communicate higher-level meaning and concepts. That’s why a moment later it communicates full thoughts and ideas, and I hear them in my own language.

The Astral Earth: My only guess as to what this was is that it could have been my Satori playing out over the landscape there. Or perhaps my vision was penetrating into the ground, and the astral matter took that perceived form? It felt like it was opening up as I looked..

It seemed as if I was looking at the nature of astral matter below us. The soft, pliable nature reminded me of striated dough.
