The Twisting Parking Deck★★
August 7, 1997 @ nap

Context: I'm looking for a place to live in Berkeley.

I was traveling with Rebecca and her friends on an upward-sloping road. I got out of the car for something, then had a Transformers adventure. I returned to the car afterwards and was glad it wasn’t towed. Rebecca and her friends were still with me. I drove it higher up and the road became a parking garage. I was looking for a place to park, a place to live, and something related to the Transformers adventure. The scenery changed and the curves of the garage became crazy, even more curving than the picture below. Soon we were sliding over the curves on a colored blanket instead of a car. The curves sometimes had a sparkling depth. At other times they were ridged with blue, yellow, and red to hold the blankets on.

There were video games on every level and I played some. Then we warped into a party from Rebecca’s dream; a lame, boring business man party. The guy throwing the party heard me describing it thus and looked at me angrily. The room was rocking and tilting as we moved along the track.

References: Transformers is a comic book, TV, and movie series.

Going on a Blanket Ride: These inner passageways are a dream phenomenon of some kind. In this one I dispense with the car rationalization at some point and find we’re on something like a blanket traveling slowly over crazy curves, which is probably a much more true experience. What this is, I don’t know, but it comes with (or I have) plenty of distracting video game rotes.

Even when we enter Rebecca’s dream party, we still appear to be on the track since the room was rocking and tilting.

These remind me of Disney rides, going slowly along a curving course, seeing different points of interest and scenes as you go.

Joining a Dream: While looking to entertain myself on the ride, I play various video games, then jump into Rebecca’s dream to check it out. It’s not to my liking.

Passing the Time: Travel continues along the track while we find ways to occupy ourselves.
