Dream Journal

Jamie just told me his dreams. It contained several dream phenomena!
He was hanging out with Rebecca and I and his Aunt Jessica, and we were hiking. There was a cliff taller than our house between him and where we all went. He had trouble getting handholds and footholds and called for help. Jessica came down to help him but didn’t know what to do. The cliff had extended much higher. But then he found a handhold and was able to climb up.
At the top, it was less impressive than we expected, and so we hiked on. At some point I decided to take him to “Ohio Beach”. He jumped onto me, clinging tight, while I spun around and around until we were at Ohio Beach, which was a beach on the ocean. He was afraid to go in so I threw him in, and then I jumped in afterwards. Before his eyes appeared a map of the regions of the ocean. The first one was sharks and eels, then jellyfish, then pointy crabs, then various other horrors. He deduced that we were in the “sharks and eels” section and shouted that he wanted to leave. I said I’d take him to “Florida Beach” and so he jumped on me and I spun around until we were there instead. Here he was distracted by some cute mouse-rabbits on a root going out into the water. They jumped in the water and began to swim. A short ways away, I was standing in the water with a swirl of fish around me. Jamie asked me to grab some fish, and so I grabbed a handful, and held them out in front of me for him to see. He wanted to get out of the ocean altogether, so he jumped on me again and I spun us to a new location on land, where we’re driving down a road towards a farm. We see Holly, who joins us.
Spinning: Now this is interesting. Spinning to change dream locations is a well-known technique, but I’ve never been aware of myself doing that. Now here I am in Jamie’s dream, spinning us repeatedly to new locations.
Interesting, too, how I spin us into a new scene where we’re instantly using a car rationalization for fast travel.
