I am, of all things, pregnant. A big, muscular bulge rises from my stomach. It doesn’t at all seem odd to me and I forget the difference between boys and girls. I feel this glowing joy from my belly — a radiating happiness and proudness. I’m excited to have this child, and incredibly happy. Soon comes the time. . . . I go into painless labor. I just know it’s happening. Then I realize it might be hard to get out. They tell me I have to do a C-section. I am afraid of this, but do it anyway. My memory fades here. . . .
