Security★★
February 12, 2007

This dream lasts hours, and is like a full-length movie in scope. I’m a student in high school and America is freaking out about some stupid incident that scared it, much like in waking life with the Cartoon Network ads in Boston (where everyone thought the ads were bombs). I get pissed at all the overreactions, so I vaguely disguise myself and take pictures of myself with a pumpkin. I print them out with “this is not a bomb” written on top and put them up around the school. The school begins to freak out. I get scared and try to hide my tracks but they’re not on to me. It becomes like martial law, and eventually I try to escape this new prison-like school and succeed.

Then, my character becomes kind of like Jim Carey playing Dr. Evil — I become secretly the head of a fake security company and bleed the school dry of money setting up ridiculous security (much of it fake). I’m dressed in a bright blue shirt, bald, with a reddish tinge to my head, acting the part of the fanatic, totally trusted by the principal, causing ever more fear in him, getting ever more money and power. I’m planning the final show, just before I awake — to pretend to have caught me, to stir up such hatred as to have the administration call for blood, then to unmask the entire situation. I decide to wake up and write it down. It’s America’s story right now.

References: Jim Carey is an actor. Dr. Evil is a character from the Austin Powers movie.

Recent Events: Taking and printing photos, dealing with money, the long span of time — these indicate that this was a rote of a physically-based story. It’s likely this rote was being passed around in the dream world because of the similar recent events in the physical world.
