Jungle Exploration★★★
December 1, 2003

I’m wandering through this foresty area, thick with pine needles. I come to this winding river that I think of as the Nile. There are dark rocks and ahead of me is a patch of sand. To my right is a lake. Beyond the sand and rocks is a jungle. Thinking of Magic The Gathering, I think “This is a powerful magical spot.” I pull out/create some Magic cards and start looking through them as I walk forward into the jungle. There is a prehistoric feel to the jungle, like I might happen upon dinosaurs. I soon come upon this enormous stone structure — an entrance to this stone building complex. As I walk under the arch, the cards come up all white and relating to the complex. In particular, I remember one called “Sanctuary.” I walk inside and down this corridor. It’s this semi-modern college-like building and there aren’t many people about. I wonder if someone’s going to tell me to leave, and sure enough, what’s most likely a thought form projection of mine of a nun tells me to leave. I return to the lake and river and back to this little wooden bridge.

Well, let me try to explain this. I was heading “north” to the Sanctuary. I turned around and went back and “North” was now a dock leading out to the lake. It felt like “north” was the only way I could travel, and instead of changing direction, I changed what was north.

The eye tattoo

Anyways I went out onto the dock of the lake. Some young kayakers in a long black and gold kayak came by and I helped guide their kayak in. They looked slightly tribal. Then, in third person I’m watching myself stand on the wooden bridge with the paddle and two tribal youths walk by with a kayak and call to me: “Hey, paddle boy!” So I help them into the water. I’m floating all over at this point, outstretching my reach, unconstrained by physical limitations. I end up in the kayak with the girl with long blonde hair. She’s young and thin. I notice her eyes are tattooed with an ‘M’ shape. Actually the middle of the ‘M’ came down over the opening a bit. Anyways, I apparently had a similar tattoo and when I leaned in to get a closer look, she kissed me.

After all this, I stirred in bed, and dreamed I was writing it all down. So the best details are lost.

References: Magic The Gathering is a collectible card game.

Stretching Outside Expectations: In my dream self focus, I’m not limited by physical constraints. Were my waking mind to step in, it would rationalize what was happening with some bizarre conjurations that it would instantly accept without question.

Everything is North: I picked up on something important here. I had a sense of direction, and while I turned about in the dream, that sense of direction remained constant. It’s as if I were standing in one place, rotating the world around me, rather than turning myself within the world. And this is accurate to an extent. That sense of compass direction is a body sense that’s not available in the astral. It could be my etheric body was standing up, facing north, while my astral body went all about in dreams.
