Dream Journal

Recently, a huge thunderclap broke into my dream as an explosion of numbers, letters, and symbols (%!*#) that filled up the visual field. Last night thunder came again and again, each seeming to be a book that I read in its entirety in a flash of light.
Last night I experienced a visual misinterpretation — looking through the window, vaguely at the storm, I saw the tree outside. But some of the leaves seemed to practically glow they were so bright. Were they lit by some car light from below? I wondered. I thought several moments, and then, waking more, realized that what I thought were bright leaves was the bright morning sky shining through the leaves.
The patterns on the covers we sleep under have proven to be great stimulus for these kinds of visions, too.
In a dream last week I found myself in the near realm outside the apartment. There was a lot of interaction with neighbors, though I’ve forgotten most of it. At one point I was straightening this bent street light support cable cover. There were three — two covers were yellow, and one was white.
Upon waking I looked out the window and saw the plastic coverings on the cables. By the amber light of the street light, one appeared white and two yellow, like in the dream. But by daylight, they appear as two different shades of yellow. We must see physical light when in the near realm, unless memory is the reason I saw it this way. But if I recall, nothing else was colored in that orange light.
Breaking Into Dreams: It takes a lot to break into deep sleep, but loud thunder will do the trick. It’s interesting how distorted it sounds when it does, and how it will come through so many layers of the mind, being transformed into information and then into something else entirely within the context of the dream.
In the early days of the internet, power surges from lightning could cause the modem to produce a short stream of random numbers, letters, and other characters on the screen. I wonder if the first instance took this form because of that.
Near Realm Vision: This is really interesting. Either light from the physical is perceived when OB, or that the imagery was coming from my memory — even though I see this area most in the day.
