The Neighborhood Construction Ship★★

Blaine House

A wild dream at about the 12th hour of sleep. I’m at Blaine House with Jess and it’s bustling with people. I look out the kitchen window to see this immense airship made of metal girders carrying enormous amounts of building supplies. It stretches from right overhead to beyond the distant horizon. “What? How?” I asked, astonished. The phone rings and I pick up. A person answers my questions, explaining that it’s space folding (a reference to a method of travel from Robotech). It seems to have enough material to build an entire city. I go outside and see that at the far edge of our property there is ALREADY a wooden wall of structures rising up into the sky, blocking the view. I can’t believe it and run to tell Jess. Then as I turn back, the back yard is filled with wooden frames for housing complexes. They crowd in. I am flabbergasted at the speed of the development but think “at least we won’t be lonely anymore”. Then there’s talk of road access and after turning away and back, a path appears along the edge of the woods to the road. Above, on the deck, Dan celebrates in repulsive excess as I learn that he gained $100 million from the sale of Blaine House.

Later Jess and Rox and I walk across the road into the churned earth by the ditch and I ask Rox about the money. She gets mad that that’s all I care about.

References: Robotech is an animated sci-fi series.

Telephone Rationalization: The phone is a rationalization of the mental communication that comes in answer to my questions.

Scene Changes: It’s easy for scenes to make big changes when we’re not looking, and as it seems that this one intends to show rapid progress and development, it does so when I’m not looking. Each time I turn away and then look again, it’s progressed a great deal.

Knowing the Answers: I wonder something and the answer comes to me rationalized as a phone call. But where did that knowing actually come from? Was this a rote and the knowing was from the person whose memory it was?
