The New Apartment★★★
March 17, 2001

Wow.. This has so many aspects! It began as the new apartment Rebecca and I moved to in a sunny, happy small city that I described as being near Oberlin. It had a very old-school rich feel with dark wood and high ceilings. There was a large central area with a surrounding horseshoe shape. The large central area was used every morning as a public breakfast area. Great feasts were served. The doors were opened to all, and we were free to partake. This morning Chrissie was going to visit.

The continuous shape

I was at the table with Rebecca and Vanessa and other friends. There was a scene where I was Vanessa, looking out of her eyes and appreciating my friendship. Then I (as Vanessa) was wandering about in the foyer looking for a bathroom. There were a few but there were large windows in each. The view outside that used to be a street was now one of greenery.

Back at the table I (as myself) was eating corn and potatoes. They tasted overcooked and unsatisfying, as if all made from the same substance (haha). I went wandering to try to find something else, and got bread and au gratin potatoes. I saw an old lady who I mistook for Chrissie. I talked to her, thinking it was her, but then the wrinkles finally made me realize it wasn’t her and I dropped the conversation and wandered away while she, confused, went and sat down at the table.

Then I returned to the table to find that the people had changed to my extended family and Chrissie’s extended family. A scene played out similar to one from The Slums of Beverly Hills, which I’d seen last night, but with these characters, where Chrissie’s family was asking me questions but Dan and Rox kept answering and saying that they had paid for the apartment and took all responsibility for it. I got up and stormed off.

So I wandered around the outside blowing my nose again and again. I met up with Chrissie and her brother and sister (stand-ins) and walked around with her. I mentioned we could use the main central area for slide shows or movies. I brought her to the first room and had to blow my nose some 17 times before it was clear. There was copious amounts of snot, getting all over. It was very embarrassing — she was getting bored of waiting. My nose is clear in waking life and has been. So finally the tour commenced.

The shape with towers

By the time I left the first room, the rounded outside area had become a walkway of stone surrounded on the outside not by walls but by grass and trees and it had six stone towers around it. Two were just opening their doors and I remarked, “Look, new rooms I didn’t know we had.” I saw they were selling film (or something like that).

Now the next transformations I don’t exactly recall, but while the shape remained, the center area was now water and the outside was walled and had rocks and greenery like a zoo. In the upper right of the horseshoe was this strange video arcade. I was with Ed. We had some coins but there were a ton on the floor, and I found a couple large 50 cent pieces which I was astonished by and showed the boys. The games were strange and dirty and somewhat non-digital. A voice came to me describing this gambling game. I felt almost compelled to play. There was a crude thought-form man trying to run the game. If one of his numbers beat one of mine, he got the previous coin I played. Somehow I became really mad at him and was beating him up in this watery stoney pit. He was clearly a thought form at this point — buoyant, reactive but strangely so, dazed and unintelligent-looking.

But being done, I noticed all the animals about — packs of all sorts, including apes and goats. I found myself a vantage point on a raised rocky outcropping among stones at the top of the horseshoe, overlooking the island-dotted area of water in the center. An alarm of some sort went up that was also a great influx of energy, and the animals moved to the outside ring and arranged themselves by kind, and each kind had a king. The goats came towards me, and the goat king set his eye on me. I jumped down from my perch, realizing it was HIS perch, but he still gave me a long painful bite on the hand before releasing me and climbing to the high rock that was his.

A Constant Shape: Written at the time: “Amazing and curious how a shape seems the most real thing and remains constant through so many different scenes. Almost as if it’s the shape of an amphitheater or astral viewing room upon which this is all being projected.”

Mistaken Identity: I mistook the old lady for Chrissie because I was expecting a visit from her.

A Scene from a Movie: The scene from The Slums of Beverly Hills that appeared in this dream hit me close to home, which is why it came up in this dream, why I didn’t question its appearance, and why I reacted strongly to it. It exchanged a few actors to be more fitting, but used the scene at hand to play itself out. I guess this is what it would be like in waking life if every little daydream actually happened. Since it was like a daydream or subdream, Dan and Rox, who weren’t previously in the dream, disappeared as soon as the scene played itself out.

The Gambler: This thought form seemed to have the ability to speak messages into my head — to describe the gambling game, and likely to play it as well.

After This Short Break: This was a scene from The Slums of Beverly Hills using my parents and Chrissie’s parents as characters. They weren’t there before the scene, and disappeared afterwards.

Interesting! Boring. . . .: I jump into Vanessa for a bit when she’s appreciating my friendship. I want to experience that feeling! But when Vanessa goes wandering in search of a bathroom, I get bored and jump back out and being myself.
