Dream Journal
August 4~16, 2000
It’s daytime, and I’m hanging out in a dorm, watching people. I see Marilyn Manson as himself, without all the makeup. He was rather thin. He was there with a girl. While they had usually got all done up — him in an “aura helm”, and her in black leather, they had released a flier that said they weren’t crazy looney partiers doing bad stuff like some people thought. I had one of the fliers and I thought it was funny. Like I cared! I went up and talked with him. He was preparing for a party in a dorm. He told me his real name — long and indecipherable. He asked if I could bring this pitcher of something to the party. I ribbed him about the flier. I said “Don’t know if I’ll go,” and I held it up. “You cheese-puffs will probably just sit around watching football all day.” He grinned. He seemed like he was going to go swimming, too, as he had a towel or two.
I joined him on the way over. We talked deeply and honestly and it was joyous. At one point, I said “I bet you like the rush of emotion.” He began running all about through the grass and I joined him, running at turbo speed, just loving the feeling of it. Then we looked up ahead at a vast landscape of colored pots and pans stacked into towers with a path running through them up to this huge tall black pot. I suggested we go up the path and we did. Marilyn said he felt like he was coloring the pots and pans with his mind as he looked at them. As we got on the path they turned to cars, still stacked and still colored. One car blocked the road. Was it occupied? As I had the thought, a vague white silhouette could be seen in the driver’s seat. Recognizing the thought form, I said “no” and smiled to myself.
As we neared the top of the hill, we overtook Rafe and Ed and Joshua! We joined them and came over the top of the hill. The tall black pot had resolved into a black cylindrical structure. Before us was a wide river and across that a woods with assorted buildings and a neon sign that I recognized as Atlanta for some reason. That’s where we wanted to go. But a few steps more and we saw that the road, now concrete, came to a sudden end some ten feet over the river. There was confusion in the group and I explained that the reason for this was that we had to face something in the large structure first.
We turned to it and not much was visible — just some bits sticking out of the top of the sandy/muddy hill. There was an opening barely large enough to slide in through and a flexible area that revealed lines of blue energy when pushed on. I said “no, no” and gathered their attention. I knew I could easily get to the bottom of this through dream law. I mentally pried open the ground and created a big opening for everyone. The ground was pliable and the opening started small and was stretched open. We entered.
There were many levels but I remember few details. I taught them a lot of things, though I resisted being too much of a teacher. At one point we crossed a road under open sky. I said that if they ignored the cars they would pass right through them, as they do with one another, but if they became anxious and believed they would feel the impact of getting hit, they would.
Then we went into another room and I taught them how to open doors in walls. “Begin by sticking a pin-like extension of your mind into the wall.” Two of them were lined up with me, trying it. The appearance was like sticking a pin into clay. “Then, when it’s in, expand it, stretch it open into whatever shape you like — circle, square, patterned frame, etc.”
Next we came upon a big mechanical fish. I knew it was the second-to-last level and we entered through the mouth. I told the others to get their bats or weapons out in preparation for lots of little guys. Clearly here I must have been losing a little lucidity. Once in the mouth, we slid down a slippery slope into a canal with little fish-beastie enemies and I found a bat. That’s when I awoke. The music-alarm had gone off.
References: Marilyn Manson was a musician.
Turbo Wash: It appears that the joyous emotions and the turbo-running changed the plot. The plan of going to the party clearly was derailed by the discovery of this new interesting scene we found in front of us.
Another Dreamer: The fact that “Marilyn” thought that he was the one coloring the pots and pans with his mind not only is strong evidence that he was another dreamer, but that he was strongly focused in his dream self at the time, which is also supported by the deep, joyful conversation we were having and the turbo-speed running we were doing. All of this points to an awareness of the dream state and the ability to consciously control it.
Pots to Cars: It’s possible the pots and pans were just thought forms caught by our attention on their way to becoming cars, and when released by distraction, they finally finished forming.
The Driver Thought Form: I was lucid enough to catch the thought form person forming in answer to my question.
A Knowing: In this dream, I somehow know all kinds of things. I know that we need to face challenges in the structure before we can cross the stream. I also knew specifics of each of the challenges. But how? I didn’t get the impression that I’d been there before.
Opening Astral Doors: Wow! My dream self came up with a way to open astral doors that overcomes object permanence. This technique is completely new to my waking self.
The Grid: Pressing on the side of the building revealed these lines of blue energy, like a grid underlying astral matter. I wonder what this is.
Unemotional Clarity: In this scene, I catch the thought form forming in response to my wondering if the car was occupied or not. This is the dream self focus. I’m not fooled by what I see. I know I’m in the astral, and I’m catching the details with an awareness of the laws of the astral world.
Now if I’d been afraid someone was in the car or if I’d hoped someone was in the car, I’d likely have missed my hand in creating it. The waking self’s desires and fears get the waking self involved in the dream, where I then would mistake it for real, physical life.
Perhaps when fears and desires take over, the dream self continues to dream at its level while we go into a shallow emotional-level fantasy that is what we remember upon waking. We are always dreaming, even while awake.
