Rebecca and I were walking along this street with no curb, only a steep gully on both sides. We both thought it seemed dangerous. I was leading and every time a car came we had to step off the road into the gully and then watch it pass before continuing. There was a brick building to the side. I had an odd feeling this was the hill by the gas meters at Blaine House. We then had to climb over this large rock and dirt boulder but people had made a path over it so it was easy. On the other side was a very large college courtyard with green grass, scattered trees, and students all over. The wall might have been the tall white trapezoid by the garage at Blaine House! Anyways, there’s a continuity break. . . . Then I’m in art class, superimposed over the basement of Blaine House. It has the concrete floor, but it’s much neater. This is day 5 of art class, the last day. Day 1 was the first teacher. Day 2, 3, and 4 was a second teacher, and today was the third and final teacher. Every day I had run out of the class thanks to some insult or rude comment from the teacher One day I fled to my room in a fancy posh hotel. These five classes took place on five consecutive nights of dreaming!
Today Rebecca was my partner. I also had a male friend who was part of why I signed up for the class. We were playing with play dough colors. Rebecca mixed blue and yellow for green, and then added yellow and white and were mixing the two into a very cool interplay of yellow and green with an effulgence of even whiteness that was far more like mixing light than play dough.
I wanted to make green, too, so I was watching and waiting for her to be done. The teacher said “Why don’t you mix the remaining two colors, red and blue?” and I said “I wanted to do my own.” The teacher sneers “Come on, this isn’t THIRD GRADE,” and my friend looks at me like “oh, no” and I storm out and up the stairs and go to my room, but then decide instead to hide out in the bathroom where they’re less likely to find me. I notice Jess is in her room with the light on and the door closed. I consider telling her to let me know if anyone comes looking for me but decide not to.
So it’s night now and I’m sitting in the upstairs bathroom. I get this creepy thought about three bad things coming to visit and I think that someone’s going to dangle something outside the window. I don’t want to turn and look, but I do. Something materializes as if fading in from behind thick darkness. I’m a little spooked but know someone’s playing a game and go to pound the window to scare them back but there’s no glass and my arms flail outside the window. I back up, then look around the corner and see a vague white figure on the deck with a fishing pole moving this stuffed white hippopotamus. These are all thought forms I made of course. I grab a plunger and swing it at the dangling hippo. I smack it and make this groan of disgust. Rebecca hears this and awakens me!
Dual Location: It’s odd how this scene is both a street near a busy college and Blaine House. The two are nothing at all alike and yet somehow in my description I find points where the two correspond. The idea that it’s Blaine House lays over the previous scene somewhat, and the break in continuity switches the scenery completely over to Blaine House, while at the same time being the school I was approaching.
Thought Forms: The object was created by my fear that it would be there. I wonder where the idea of three bad things coming to visit came from.
A Hard Time in Art Class: It’s odd — usually during this time period I would have reacted with rage but I reacted more like a child this time. I may have been dreaming from a child’s perspective.
