Dark Tower Warcraft★★
December 8, 1997
The Dark Tower • The Winding Lake Road

There’s this big game of Warcraft going on in the valley in front of the Dark Tower. It was like a bunch of guys playing with miniatures on two large islands. My characters were Benjis. I had to duplicate them by having them mine and farm. My attention kept wandering from the game. There were six starting cities in our island, and three players. I was in one very close to a main enemy road. One enemy was Uruk Hai.

The area around the Dark Tower as a Warcraft map

I know these lands so well from many other dreams. There was a dream of going south, then east, and discovering a big forest and castles. This place is really rock solid. You can see the Dark Tower on a slight hill in the distance. It seemed more stormy now, as if it had rained recently and the sun might break out from behind the clouds. The lands could be very beautiful. There is a flavor or smell to the whole place. I had a memory of doing 3D holographic modeling or something at the Dark Tower. . . . Very dim now. . . . The drive there is along the coast from the north to the middle of the map. The rolling plains were green with grass and stony patches. Where I was playing Warcraft it was gray and it was dark with scattered lights on the island across the water.

The ever-present effect of bright reds along the horizon in the East was present. Under it, shrouded in dark, were the dotted lights of an old city.

I haven’t played Warcraft for a while but I went through old RPG stuff last night.

There was one point where I was looking through a book and pining over pictures of Heather, my crush from 6th grade. I loved how cool her hair was, in this totally 80s style. I thought ahead to Rebecca’s hair and thought “It’s not very good.” Rebecca looked all strange and warped and weird, as if through a mind that wasn’t very fond of her. Was that my 6th grade self?

References: Warcraft is a video game. RPG refers to my tabletop Role Playing Games. I had one centered around the Lord of the Rings, where Uruk Hai are a species of orcs.

Dark Tower Details: The stony green rolling fields were very much like those found in England.

My 6th Grade Self: This is wild. Looking at a picture of the girl I liked in 6th grade brought forth my 6th grade self, which would be me around 1986. That self had its own 80s point of view and loved Heather’s permed hair, but didn’t think much of Rebecca’s (which I currently love).

Seth has said that all past lives continue and are creative. This shows that this applies as well to earlier versions of ourselves. My kid me is still very much alive inside me. That person is, in a way, a snapshot of perspectives, desires, fears, and knowledge. As an adult, I can’t easily connect with it, but it’s still there and can have fresh perspectives on current events. Wild!
