Dream Journal
July 24, 1997 @ 6 AM
I was at Blaine House in the silver light of dawn (like in the waking world: 6AM). The light felt like a presence — a BIG one. There was a thin layer of ice all over the ground. The back yard was flooded almost to the top of the hill, with a thin, barely visible ice layer on top. Everything was so fresh and new, like being outside on a winter morning.
I was meeting my best friends: Rebecca and a representation of the boys at Oberlin. We all just started hanging out, all totally being ourselves. At times Rebecca became Julie, futilely pursuing me. At other times she was Joleen. We were hanging out like guys do, and I’d rib Rebecca every once and a while, teasing but giving attention. There was no great want, she was just one of the guys.
At one point I jumped out onto the deck outside my room and a part of the wall became this little wizard, glowing in its own golden fairy light. He told me to escape down the courtyard wall and I do. Without him I would probably have hesitated or forgot. Then I was doing some other magic from atop the wall.
Around every corner and in every room of the house there was a crazy different scene or dream going on, but I stayed in the Blaine House context.
We went by the garage and I remembered that I could walk through walls! So I was jumping all around saying “Ya wanna see? Ya wanna see?” and they didn’t believe me, saying “Yeah, right.” They kept talking amongst themselves. I tried to push my hand through the stucco but it was solid. I said my standard excuse “I hate when it’s . . . crunchy?” and then kept trying. Then I closed my eyes and meditated for a second. I opened my eyes and stepped through the wall. It was like a giant marshmallow exploded as I stepped through (What the hell?) and the white goo covered Dan and his cars inside the garage. It got on us, too, as well as some black dirt. Clearly this was an objective dream effect from stepping through the wall — it did not come from my expectations.
Inside the garage, Dan was sitting on top of his latest and greatest car in the standard meditation position, praying to power and technology, his personal gods. There were four other cars around him, too. He didn’t flinch from the marshmallow stuff. So I left through the garage door and went back around to Rebecca and the guys, who were also splattered.
We went inside and I wanted to get cleaned up before “ma” saw us (I’ve never called anyone “ma” in my life). The guys went upstairs and Rebecca and I went downstairs. I could sense ma coming and scrambled into the bathroom with Rebecca who was flashing to Joleen now. She said to leave but I said we’d have to both use it so as not to get caught. I peeked out and saw Rox come around the entranceway and peer over. That room was playing a memory of her and had the same ambient light that the memory was recorded in, which didn’t match with the silvery-dawn light of the rooms around her.
The light in the bathroom was on. I took off my clothes and got in the tub, furiously washing off the dirt and marshmallow. Rebecca, initially using the sink, came into the tub with me and laughed, accusing me of setting this all up, but I humorously dismissed it. While washing, my hand glanced against her butt underwater and she gave me this “nice try” look. Then it was a bed we were in, like a motel bedroom (transform!) and I remembered that we were going to end up together and reflected with pleased amusement on where we were now and how I could have new experiences at that point in our relationship! Wow! How cool is this dream?
Silvery Light: The winter-morning silvery light of this dream is a sign of higher levels of consciousness, more “screens” of consciousness watching. That’s why it felt like a presence — it was. It’s literally the light of a higher level of attention. It’s no surprise that I remembered that I can walk through walls.
The presence I’m referring to is the presence of a more connected consciousness. It was the heat of that consciousness melting the thought form environment, revealing the ice-like appearances — a truer, less-formed level of everything.
Higher Perception: The light, the ice, the feelings, and the presence here all indicate I’m united with a greater consciousness seeing Blaine House from a higher perspective. I’m peeking behind the curtain of physical forms to an extent, further towards the higher frequency, formless side of things.
Here again I notice a thin layer of ice on everything. In many accounts of those who examine the spirit world closely, they say it is made up of translucent materials, much like ice.
Marshmallow Dreamstuff: What a cool experiment! Instead of passing straight through the wall, I somehow detonated the astral matter by moving into it. Again we see astral matter in its native white form. It makes up all the stuff of dreaming.
Echoes: I could tell Rox’s appearance wasn’t true, as the light she was bathed in didn’t actually match the ambient light of the dream. It was a memory being replayed just as it was recorded.
The original lighting is probably visible here because she’s in a separate room, which allows her part of the scene to have its own lighting.
Scene Change: Rebecca and I in the bathtub and it became a bed in a bedroom. Two people together in a thing was the essential shape of things. Perhaps I was momentarily awakened and the bed I was in became the new form of the dream.
Changing Identity: Rebecca is a good friend apart from being my wife, so she fit in well in the “group of college friends” situation. But when her character turned into “girl I wasn’t interested in making moves on me”, that didn’t fit with Rebecca anymore (because I am interested in Rebecca) and the character changed to Julie, who DID fit that description. Then it changed back to Rebecca.
Dream Hub: In this case Blaine House appears to be a dream hub of sorts.
