Hypnagogia: The Inner Eyes★★★

Last night, falling asleep, I noticed my inner eyes — those which you can open and close without opening your eyelids. It was so hard to keep them open — doing so made me lightheaded and then they would slowly pull closed, like when I’m completely tired and can’t keep my eyelids open. Now I understand that lightheaded feeling when lucidity sets on. These are the eyes that see newly, that can accept new, novel experiences without trying to rationalize them. This is the focus of the waking self, being drawn across the boundary to dreams.
