Elfquest What If★★
June 10, 1997

I was reading Elfquest, and when I asked “What if the Wolfriders hadn’t turned this one way and met the others?” The answer was “Someone else would have,” and I jumped into the action — a frozen tundra. The wolfriders went the other way and instead the more basic characters appeared — Snoopy and all the gang. It was all kinda like Warcraft, too, building castles and houses and such.

References: Elfquest is a graphic novel series which features the Wolfriders. Warcraft is a video game. Snoopy is from the Peanuts comic.

Gateway to a Rote: Here’s a great gateway caused by curiosity. A quality of rotes is that you can make different decisions and take different paths.

Too Many References: This is such a mix of references from my waking life. My waking Warcraft obsession is asserting its influence on my dream stories. But Snoopy? I haven’t thought of that cartoon in a decade.

What If..?: Here I explore a different possibility if the Wolfriders had taken a different path.
