Banana House Party
September 25, 1996
Arcology Hill • Oberlin College

There was a party at Banana House. The house was much bigger than usual, and I think it was located at the bottom of Arcology Hill. I was watching the door, but mostly just sitting on our extra-big porch playing music. I had a guitar and amp. I played “When I Was Younger”, and then I was making up really good stuff on the spot. The inside of Banana House was blackened and dead and empty. . . . Now that I think of it, it was kinda like The Tower. There were lots of people, and they were out on the lawn, either milling about or in line. They were enjoying my music. At one point I left for a while. When I came back, they were mostly dispersed. I went inside to get the rest of the people out, and then discovered some on the roof. They had covered our roof and the neighbors with colored blankets and towels. Fearing trouble, I said they had to take them off, so they did. I had to rescue the cats from the neighbor’s roof, too.

The Tower, viewed from above

The Tower is very high tech, but around a corner, it’s eaten away, revealing a wooden frame. Stairs lead to this mall-like place. Nomads live in the wooden part.

References: I lived in Banana House was where I lived at Oberlin.

Spiral Exit: I’ve noted spiral passageways in the Dark Tower and the Atlanta Tower. Note in the drawing how the exit curves down from the top edge, as if from a spiral passageway here as well.
